How to Use MetaTrader 5: Charts, Orders, Stop Loss and Trade History

Floating profit can change before a position is closed; Balance may remain unchanged while Equity moves. Learn to monitor drawdown in Equity instead of assuming the account is safe because closed Balance looks intact. MODIFYING AND CLOSING POSITIONS Practice moving a Take Profit or Stop Loss under a defined rule and closing a demo position manually. Keep a record of why the order changed. A sudden decision to remove SL after price moves against the trade is not disciplined risk management. Understand how partial closures affect remaining volume and average realized outcome. Some broker platforms offer different position accounting modes, so verify behavior on the account. HISTORY AND JOURNAL EXPORT The History section can reveal filled prices, timestamps, commissions, swaps and realized P&L. Use it alongside pre-entry screenshots to compare the planned setup with actual execution. A trade showing a favorable chart movement may have a smaller net result after costs. Exporting history to a spreadsheet can help calculate net win rate, average R, drawdown and recurring operational errors. A backtest can look excellent because of overfitting or unrealistically favorable fills.
